Every human does better when we feel connected to others and to ourselves. Put simply, connection is the compilation of three basic elements: knowing we are seen, heard, and that we matter. I was introduced to this concept when watching an interview with Maya Angelou, just before I began my graduate program to become a therapist. Since that time, I have heard many others share the same message… Oprah, Brene Brown, Johann Hari, and countless others that have studied, researched, and understand the tie that binds us all. When we feel better, we do better, right? The concept is simple, yes, but the work is obviously more complex.
The concept is simple, yes, but the work is obviously more complex. You must first identify where and how you are disconnected. Do you struggle with low self-worth? Do you trust yourself? Do you struggle to regulate your emotions at times? Do you find yourself in conflict with others and/or unable to build trusting relationships?
I can help… or at least I’d like to try. I will help you identify the barriers that keep you from getting where you want within yourself or in relationship with others, and I will teach and model ways to help you achieve your goals. Asking for help is hard, and definitely takes a lot of courage. Do it. Tap into that courage. I'm here when you're ready.

I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in many settings within the community. Working with children and families experiencing foster care I have seen how trauma, loss, and grief impact the mind and the soul. But it also allowed me to see the power of resilience and the capacity for amazing change and progress. In my clinical work I take a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach to help individuals learn, grow, and thrive. I have helped individuals experiencing grief, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, depression, trauma, and adjustment problems.

Through the incorporation of CBT techniques, I aim to help clients understand how their thoughts and behaviors interact with their situation, allowing them to make measurable change in their approach to difficulties in their daily lives. I will provide a safe and healthy environment in order for the client to feel comfortable in exploring who they are and what life they would like to lead.
Counseling can be a difficult and uncomfortable process at times, which is what I strive to provide a safe and healthy environment with humor and compassion.
